During these complex times of change, there is enhanced interest to examine and develop leadership capacity in government organizations and their agencies. Organizations are taking more interest in being a learning organization that facilitates opportunities for people to improve their professional capacity. Amidst this current leadership interest, local government officials need benchmarks for personal development. Little attention is given to the leadership, versus administrative and legislative, aspects of local government. The Local Government Leadership (LGL) Institute was established to meet this need. Our programs are highly interactive, focused on building capacity in the competencies required by today's local government leaders. We are at a crossroads as public servants.
